Preparing Your Kitchen - Kitchen Inventory
Hello, it’s Kristy from Mama Bears Prep! First, I want to welcome you our group and get you started on Key #1 of preparing your kitchen so that you can be the Prepared Mama. As you are going to find out, I am an extremely organized person and in order for me to function well, everything has to have a place and purpose. While I was creating my Mama Bears Prep system I had a deep desire to really help Moms with dinner time.
Now let me ask you a couple questions-
Is your kitchen organized, complete chaos or a little bit sloppy?
Do you enjoy being in your kitchen or do you want to get out of your kitchen as fast as possible because it is so messy?
Do you want your kitchen to be a workspace that you will be able to enjoy and eventually love?
Listen, I am not judging here but rather I hope that I am helping you to understand that if you are going to be spending time in your kitchen you have to have it organized and have it be a place that you actually want to spend time.
Are you ready to get started tackling your inventory list?
Print out or Edit your Kitchen Inventory
Click on the Forms in Blue below. You can print them off and write your answers or you can use the editable form and type your answers.
Locate the items on the list
Search through your kitchen and find the items on the list above. You may have other items that are important to you in your kitchen, you can type or write those in as well. Later on in the week we will have lists for Spices, Pantry, Freezers and Fridge items as well, so don't worry about that. For today just try to find the items that are tools for your kitchen - rather than supplies to season food.
Document the location of the items
List on the forms above where you have each of these items located at. Don't worry about rearranging anything, just list where they currently are placed.
Notate the condition of the items
Notate on the forms the condition of each of these items. Doing this simple step may help you realize why cooking in your kitchen isn't fun. Are all of your kitchen tools functioning the way they should be? If they are not just notate it on the form. We will talk about the importance of tools functioning later on in the week.
Record the last time you used the item
Simply just record the last time you used the items. When I went through this exercise I realized that I had not used my rice cooker since I got my instapot. Which had been like 5 years ago. Don't discard anything quite yet but again, just record the last time you used the items on your inventory lists.
Be patient with yourself. If your kitchen isn’t perfect (pretty sure it never will be) just remember that Rome or any awesome thing wasn’t built in a day. Setting up your kitchen workspace is going to be a life- long quest.
Good luck getting through this assignment, you have got this!
I’ll talk to you soon!
